I always worry that people will be shocked at the real cost involved in producing a finished item. I know anyone who crafts will understand this. So when I decided a week or so back that I wanted to sell made to order Off The Rails Infinity Scarves, I spent some time trying to source a nice acrylic yarn to make the scarf more affordable as the original had been made from luxury 100% Merino and its accompanying (worthwhile) price tag.
As my regular readers will know, I am having some renovations done at home, which has been going on for a while (seems like since about 2013…).
My new kitchen arrived this week ready for installation to start on Monday. This is super exciting, but living in an obstacle course of boxes is less fun, except for the cat who is loving finding new hiding places amid the boxes.
There’s something that happens at the beginning of September which is different to every other month of the year. I don’t know about you but that ‘back-to-school’ feeling I got in my belly every year growing up, never really left me with my childhood, even when it’s work I’m due to got back to, I still feel it!
September screams change. Subconsciously we know that this is a chance to start over to have a second chance at the year before the chaos of Christmas starts to overtake everyday life!
The Foundations. The Basics. The Building Blocks.
However you describe them, they’re not very glamorous. But they are entirely and fundamentally fundamental!
You’ve all heard the Coldplay song where Chris Martin laments the discovery that his castle was built on pillars of salt and sand… if my lyrical memory serves, that ended with his head on a sliver plate, so there’s a stark warning for you!
You know that little kid who drives you nuts asking “But why?” over and over?
Well that’s me.
I’m naturally curious but have fortunately learned when to shut-up. My questions tend to have a little more thought to them these days, though I have been know to ask why wasps exist or who thought to eat marmite for the first time.
Dora Does Ideas
For my fist post, and to introduce you all to Dora Does, I decided to focus on the theme of ideas.
As this new venture begins, I have so many ideas buzzing through my mind about what I want to do, where I want to go and how I want to get there. But where do these ideas come from? And how do I know whether they will keep coming?
