Dora’s Crochet Resources – Help for anyone with a hook!

yarn lightbulb for crochet resources

Ever since I started Dora Does, I’ve had a vision of creating a space where crocheters, new and pro, could find answers to all those crochet questions which come up over and again.

My mission is to provide easy to understand resources all in one place.  From learning to chain, to advanced finishing tips, I want there to be something here for anyone with a hook!

I am so excited to announce that I have started along the path to reach that vision as the Crochet Resources section of Dora Does has just gone live!

(Cue jazz hands!)

Every journey begins with a single step and this is step one!  Today, I introduce you to the framework –  like the wooden joists of a new house – I still have to brick up the walls, install the windows and put on the roof but I have begun!

What do I mean by Crochet Resources?

I thought long and hard about what I found useful when I started crocheting, what confused me and how I got through that.  As a result, I’ve broken down my Crochet Resources Home Page into 3 clear sections.

Click on each title to jump to that section and have a nose!

The goal here is to build a comprehensive directory of different crochet stitches and stitch patterns.  From the very basics to decorative and more elaborate stitches.

You know when you start something new but can’t decide what stitch or pattern to use?  Or you can’t remember how to make a certain stitch?  This is where you will come to find out!

Each stitch will include a written explanation and a video tutorial to give you an idea of what it actually looks like!

There are some basics here already for newbies and I will be adding more over the coming months (and years no doubt!).

tips tricks and techniques crochet resources

The Tips Tricks & Techniques section is home to all those little hacks that don’t take long but hugely improve the look of your finished crochet items.

I’ve started with some essentials but there are a whole bunch more in the works.

What do you get stuck with?

Do you have any favourite tricks you would be lost without and want to share?

Get in touch!

Now I know there is probably a better name for this section but I think this is probably a more relatable title than something formal!

In short, this is the place for numbers, charts, abbreviations and infographics.  Think, hat sizes, US/UK stitch abbreviation comparisons, guides about yarn weight and hook size.  I guess you could say this is where the science of crochet happens!

I need you!

I’d love it if you could have a look around and let me know what you think.  Just click here to go to the crochet resources home page from where you can navigate to all 3 sections.  Your feedback is so useful to me as it allows me to tailor my content to what the community really needs!

This is just the beginning.  There are lots of gaps to fill and I am excited to be able to grow this resource with your input and in response to your requests.

Over the coming weeks and months, I will focus on providing more “how-to” blog posts which will all contribute to building a solid knowledge library.

It’s not wiki-crochet yet but maybe one day…

So if there is anything you want to see, then now is the time to shout!  Email me, comment below, message me on Facebook or Instagram… heck, send a carrier pigeon if that’s you’re bag (though be warned, my cat may try to eat it!)

Happy Hooking
