Off the Rails Crochet Infinity Hat and Scarf
Following the popularity of the free pattern for the one hour, one skein free crochet pattern for the off the rails infinity scarf, I designed an adult sized crochet hat pattern to match.

Skills Used
The scarf is a relatively quick and simple project suitable for adventurous beginners with a few interesting techniques. The hat has a more unusual construction, but once you get going it is also simple and quick to crochet up.
- Knowledge of basic crochet stitches, techniques and terminology is assumed
- Working in rows and rounds
- Working in back loop and back 3rd loop
- Chainless Foundation Rows
The crochet hat pattern uses a similar construction to the ‘my brother’s beanie’ crochet hat pattern. I have a step by step photo tutorial for that pattern which you might find useful if you need a visual guide to help with the construction of this design.
Materials
For both items together, you will need around 350g of super chunky yarn and an 12mm crochet hook.
I also recommend changing to a 10mm crochet hook for the brim of the hat.
The item pictured uses cheeky chunky from wool couture.

Finished measurements
The Scarf measures approximately 150cm /60in around and is about 12.5cm / 6in wide.
The hat is made in one adult size with a circumference of around 50cm / 20 inches and 22.5cm / 9in high.
