Crocheted Cords can be used for an infinite number of uses. From embellishments, straps and chains for crochet and craft projects, it is a super useful technique to have in your crochet toolbox!
This tutorial is for a quick and easy slip stitch cord which work up in now time! You can read about how I used these to create a crochet ‘paper’ chain here. This uses a slightly updated approach to creating the cord.
The first few stitches to get the cord started can be a bit fiddly but once you get going it’s a really quick and fun to watch the cord grow! You can use this technique with any yarn and appropriate hook,
- ch = chain
- ss = slip stitch
- st = stitch
Crochet Slip Stitch Cord Written Instructions:
Round 1: Make 2ch and ss into first ch to create a small loop. (2ch and 1 ss)
Round 2: Ss into the outside / back loop of each ch and ss (3 ss)
Working in the round, and turning your cord as you work, continue to ss into the outside loop of each ss to create a cord of the required length ensuring you have 3ss at all times.
