Crochet Fingerless Gloves Pattern

Standard hand and wrist sizes for crochet patterns

When designing gloves or mittens, it can always be a bit tricky to get the size right.

I have gathered some information on average hand sizes, though definitive measurements have been hard to find.

The first chart below is a very basic chart including hand circumference only. The chart which follows it has more detail.

The measurement given is the circumference around the widest part of the hand around the knuckles at the base of the fingers.

This is the information used to size my Mighty Mitts design.

Update for 2021: The chart below includes hand average hand circumference, wrist circumference and hand length.

This may be useful to guide you in sizing crochet mittens or fingerless gloves.
